Well the background on that is little was inherited from his ancestors when they were slaves. So malcolm ended up changing his last name to x because it really symbolizes his african name el-hajj Malik el-shabazz. Malcolm x was a activist and outspoken public voice of the black muslim faith, and challenged the mainstream of the civil rights movement and the nonviolent pursuit of integration by Martin Luther King jr. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X" essay for you Create order Malcolm and Martin also urged followers to be able to defend themselves against white aggression like the klu klux klan (kkk) by any means necessary. Malcolm had developed a strong mistrust for the kkk at a young age But anyways you might know at least one when they burned his childhood home down and accused malcolms father of burning his own house down. You might know some things that he is most known or popular for like being a african american leader who was a important key spokesman for the nation of islam epitomized the Black power philosophy. Somethings people dont usually know is that malcolm played a role in the civil rights movement. In the early 1960s he became frustrated with all the non-violent, integrated struggle for the civil rights and worried that african americans would ultimately lose control of their own movement. Malcolm urged followers to defend themself against white discrimination and aggression by any means necessary as the public voice of the black muslim faith. Malcolm learned from the choices he has made in his lifetime in fact they have made his a better person for an example when he was arrested and sentenced ten years in prison in 1946 for larceny for those long ten years he would read constantly from the prisons library in the attempt to make up for the years of missing education from when he dropped out of high school. When malcolm was in prison in 1950 he wrote a letter to the president Harry Truman in which he had declared himself a communist opposed to the korean war. One day malcolm got bailed out of the prison by one of the members from the nation of islam. After that time that he spent in prison molded him into a different person and with the influence of his fellow inmates he was lead to live a different life style. And from that one experience in his life it changed everything that he believed in, known, thought about, and everything that he stood for after that making the man that we know today as malcolm x. Then one day malcolm was bailed out of the prison by one of the members from the Nation of islam. When malcolm got out of prison he made a speech at a event and Elijah Muhummad liked it and saw that malcolm had a good future ahead of him and this all happened in chicago. After elijah noticed he asked malcolm if he would like to lead the black muslims so that african americans could set up their own schools, support networks, and churches. Thats when malcolms life took a full turn and started to increase. In his speech at King solomon baptist church he talked about different christian ministers like Dr.Martin Luther King jr and malcolm said that he is not a person to fight for the fronts of something but says that I am a Black nationalist freedom fighter. Malcolm always said that Islam was his religion but he believed his religion is his own personal business. In March 1964,Malcolm left the nation of Islam and charted his own course of militant black nationalism. In one of Malcolms speeches he stated that Islam is his religious philosophy but his political economical and social philosophy is black nationalism. Something else that Malcolm often said was that if you bring up the topic religion we will have differences and we will have arguments but if you keep your religion at home and keep your religion in the closet that will only be between you and god. The Historical root of black nationalism can be traced all the way back to the 19th century to african american leaders such as Abolitionist Martin Delany. In the 20th century black nationalism was greatly influenced by Marcus Garvey who founded the United Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in 1914 in jamaica. The United Negro Improvement Association was dedicated to racial pride, economic self sufficiency and the formation of a independent black nation of africa. This group believed in the brotherhood of man and the fatherhood of god. One of there popular mottos was One God! One Aim! One Destiny! In one of malcolms speeches he said that the white man wouldnt allow a black or african american man to come and gain control over the economy of his community. So why should a black man let a white man come and take control over the economy of his community. Malcolm believed that the political philosophy of black nationalism only means that the black man should control the politics and the politics in his own community. So the economic philosophy is really the black nationalism which means that we should own and operate and control the economy of our community. Something else that he said was If your afraid of black nationalism your afraid of revolution and if you love revolution you love black nationalism- Malcolm x message to the grassroots. These are the most said quotes that malcolm x said Education is the passport to the future for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today or just the quote the future belongs to those who prepare for it today. And another quote is If your not careful the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing. When malcolm was in the nation of islam elijah muhammad was his so called right hand man. But elijah was having an extramarital relationship with his six secretaries and had thirteen children with them all and elijahs son ended up telling malcolm that. And so that led to a problem to malcolm once elijahs son made him aware of that. After he was aware of that he left the nation of islam. Later on in life in June 1964 the nation of islam filed a lawsuit to reclaim the possession of malcolms home in Queens new york. After a court appeared regarding the eviction malcolm told explosive secrets like the one about elijah. People were threatening malcolms life for the secrets that he knew and would tell about the nation of islam Before malcolm left the nation of islam he spoke about the President John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated on November 22,1963 and elijah muhammad didnt want the nation of islam to comment on the assassination but malcolm did. Malcolm made controversial remarks about the president kennedys assassination which elijah did not want and this led to malcolms censorship by elijah. When that happened malcolm was on the bench for a while. Somethings people were not in knowledge of. How Democratic Is China Essay - 1727 Words
Democracy has been spread around the world due to globalization, and there are countries that are more democratic than others. Democracy is essentially a variable that can be measured. Democracy can be defined as a set of practices and principles, such as political participation and electoral processes, that protect freedoms and at minimum include the presence of free and fair elections, the protection of minority groups, the respect of human rights, and governed by majority rule . The Peopleââ¬â¢s Republic of China (of which will be referred to as its conventional short form China) has established itself as a communist state, being one of the few remaining functioning ones in the world. This report will be answering the question ââ¬Å"how democratic is China?â⬠and will be looking at multiple variables to measure that, using a combination of variables from the models offered in The Economist Intelligence Unitââ¬â¢s index of democracy by Laza Kekic and The Quality of Demo cracy by Larry Diamond and Leonardo Morlino. The reasoning for using The Economist model is due to the scoring process that it uses, allowing for there to be an actual number on a scale for how democratic China is. China is an authoritarian regime; therefore it is known to have minimal aspects of democracy to it, so not all variables in The Economist will be used. In the play ââ¬ËThe Crucibleââ¬â¢ by Arthur Miller, the author uses characters from the 17th century witch-hunts to show the corruption behind McCarthyism. The play was published in 1953, a time when McCarthyism was actively affecting and contributing to society. The book is filled with false accusations during 1692, in order to relate to the time period it was released. We will write a custom essay sample on The Crucible Character Analysis or any similar topic only for you Order Now In the play, the character Abigail Williams is in love with John Proctor, a married man, who she had an affair with. Abigail tries to win John over by using witchcraft. When she is caught by her uncle, Reverend Parris she is afraid of being punished, so she blames their slave, Tituba. This accusation sparks a time of fear and accusation of witches in Salem. When the witch-hunt begins, Abigail realizes that she can use her lies to gain power in Salem. She thinks she can use this power to get rid of John Proctorââ¬â¢s wife, Elizabeth, and that when Elizabeth is gone John will love her. Abigail is driven by fear and envy, and her corrupt decisions lead to the downfall of Salem society. Abigail Williams is a seventeen-year-old orphan, who lives with her uncle, Rev. Parris. Abigail was fired from her job as a servant by Goody Proctor because she had an affair with John Proctor. She believes that her affair with John Proctor is true love and that the only thing standing between them is his wife. Abigail states in Act 1, ââ¬Å"I have something better than hope, I think! â⬠(Miller 22) because she believes that John has made a promise to her by breaking of chastity for her, that he loves her. Her envy of Elizabeth leads to her making very bad decisions. These decisions cause Abigail to be afraid of being convicted of witchcraft, so she accuses others, making them scapegoats for her wrong-doings. When Abigail and the other girls go dancing in the woods Abigail tries to drink a charm to kill John Proctorââ¬â¢s wife. When they are caught dancing she forces all the girls to lie about what happened. She puts the blame on Tituba. They continue to make accusations against people in Salem. ââ¬Å"I saw Goody Sibber with the Devil! â⬠â⬠¦ ââ¬Å"I saw Alice Barrow with the Devil! â⬠â⬠¦ ââ¬Å"I saw Goody Hawkins with the Devil! â⬠â⬠¦ (48) People are hanging because of the girlsââ¬â¢ false claims. Abigail then tries to get Elizabeth hanged for witchcraft but Elizabeth is allowed to live because she is pregnant. By the end of the play, Abigail tries to flee with John but his refusal to leave with her finally makes her realize that he will never love her. After this, she only has fear left as a motivator. She flees with Mercy Lewis on a boat with all of Rev. Parrisââ¬â¢ money. John is hanged because he refuses to give up his name. ââ¬Å"The legend has it that Abigail turned up later as a prostitute. â⬠(146) Although most of her actions caused pain for others, it did eventually lead to her own downfall. ââ¬Å"Elizabeth Proctor married again, four years after Proctorââ¬â¢s death. â⬠(126) It is ironic that the person Abigail set out to hurt the most was one of the few people who went on to live a better life. Since Abigail is motivated by envy and fear, her decision to fuel the witch-hunt creates tragedy by the end of the play. Everything she does causes Johnââ¬â¢s death as well as the hanging of countless others, the innocent people of Salem. This play really captures the effects of false accusations and theocracy when given power. The witch-hunts, like McCarthyism caused suffering for many without any proof or reason. Abigail proves an example of the consequences when power is given to things that cannot be proven, unsupported theories. How to cite The Crucible Character Analysis, Papers

Question: Discuss about the Cost and Quality Management Plans. This assists the company in determination of the expected savings (Farooq et al., 2017). Quality costs are covered under this four categories: Prevention cost prevention costs are incurred to prevent a quality problem on the operation. This cost is less expensive as compared to the other quality costs and are therefore highly recommended. These costs include proper training of the employees regarding assembling of products or control of statistical process. This costs assists in reducing the scrap costs. Appraisal cost these costs are incurred to prevent a quality problem to take place. It is done through various inspection, for instance, the workers from production department inspect both the outgoing as well s incoming parts of their work place (Kaplan Atkinson, 2015). Internal failure costs this cost is incurred when there is production of defective product. These costs are incurred in the form of reworked goods or scrapped goods. The cost for reworking is included under the cost only. External failure cost this cost is incurred when there is production of a defective product and to rework the product much more costs have to be incurred now in form of warranty claims, legal costs, product recall or the field services. The costs involved are mostly unquantifiable costs that are the cost associated with loss of customers (Sarkar Moon, 2014). Of Mice and Men The Death of the American Dream free essay sample
The American Dream has always been one of the most prominent ideals in American society. Of Mice and Men was written by Steinbeck in 1937. It focuses on the lives of two men, Lennie and George, as they try to fulfill their own American Dream of owning a small farm. While this seems like an attainable dream in the beginning, Steinbeck chooses instead to destroy this dream utterly with the death of Lennie. Curleyââ¬â¢s wife had an American Dream of being an actress, but she was condemned to a life on a farm with a man she doesnââ¬â¢t love. By destroying the American Dreams of Lennie, George, and Curleyââ¬â¢s Wife in Of Mice and Men, prove Steinbeck believes that the American Dream is no longer an attainable goal. George and Lennie share an American Dream of owning a farm together. The audience learns of the dream when George tells Lennie about the farm: ââ¬Å"Someday weââ¬â¢re gonna get the jack together and weââ¬â¢re gonna have a little house and a couple and some cows and some pigs- Anââ¬â¢ live offa the lanâ⬠(15). We will write a custom essay sample on Of Mice and Men: The Death of the American Dream or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The farm they describe would appear to come out of a fairy tale. In this book, proves to be exactly what it is. After Lennieââ¬â¢s death George admits ââ¬Å"-I think I knowed from the very first. I think I knowed weââ¬â¢d never do her. He usta like to hear it so much I got to thinking maybe we wouldâ⬠(93). In this story, Lennie believed in an American dream, and in many ways, he actually became a physical embodiment of the American Dream. As demonstrated by Lennieââ¬â¢s excitement and wholehearted belief that it would occur. He believed that he and George were different because they work together, exemplified in the text: ââ¬Å"With us it ainââ¬â¢t like that. With us we got a future! â⬠(15). Lennie and George possessed undying belief in the American Dream. However, through the death of Lennie, the dream of owning a farm died. This helps to prove that Lennie was a symbolic version of the American Dream. George also contains a symbolic meaning that can be associated with him. Georgeââ¬â¢s embodiment is a representation of the faith the people place in the American dream. This can be proven both by the trust Lennie, who is symbolically the American Dream, places in George, and by the way Lennie needs George to succeed. When George kills Lennie at the end of the novel, Steinbeck symbolically shows that by leaving your American Dream to faith and hard work is no longer something that Americans can do. Curleyââ¬â¢s wife also had an American dream that ended in failure. She has the dream of becoming a movie star. She said that she ââ¬Å"coulda been a movie star and have nice clothes and all of that-â⬠(90). She had a tragic story: a young girl with a talent for acting who is forced to live in isolation on a farm married to a man she doesnââ¬â¢t love. This is one of the most blatant allusions to the fact that the American dream is no longer achievable. Her story shows that opportunities are no longer easy to follow, and that society makes it difficult to succeed, especially for women. Steinbeck also supports this conclusion in his Nobel Prize Speech. When he speaks about the duties of authors he says, ââ¬Å"He is charged with exposing our many grievous faults and failures, with dredging up to the light our dark and dangerous dreams for the purpose of improvementâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Banquet Speechâ⬠). Steinbeck refers to his belief that the American Dream has become a corrupted ideal, and that it is his duty as an author to reveal that to the American public. The phrase ââ¬Å"dark and dangerous dreamsâ⬠is references that American Dream, which has changed from its originally pristine beliefs into something that has the possibility to destroy. The character of Curleyââ¬â¢s Wife is used by Steinbeck to illustrate his point that the American Dream has been corrupted. Throughout the book, Steinbeck uses characters with small roles to help point out his beliefs. He often uses these characters to illustrate his belief in the uncertainty of the American Dream. For example, Slim talks about how he ââ¬Å"ainââ¬â¢t neven seen two guys traveling together before. I donââ¬â¢t know why, maybe everybody in the whole damn worldââ¬â¢s just scared of each otherâ⬠(34). In this passage Steinbeck uses Slim to comment on how two guys traveling together is strange. The reason he gives is that people in the world are scared of each other. This can be related back to the American Dream. For a dream to succeed, you need help. The reason no oneââ¬â¢s American Dreams are succeeding is because they donââ¬â¢t receive help from each other. Curleyââ¬â¢s Wife never got help to fulfill her dream, so it never succeeded. Steinbeck echoes this sentiment in a part of his Nobel Prize speech, ââ¬Å"Humanity has been passing through a gray and desolate time of confusionâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Banquet Speechâ⬠). From this quote, Steinbeck is saying that he believes that we are passing through a time without the ability to fulfill dreams. Gray and desolate implies that there are no dreams that exist. Another time a minor character shows Steinbeckââ¬â¢s beliefs about the American Dream is when Crooks and Lennie talk about the farm where Lennie wants to live on with George. Crooks says, ââ¬Å"youââ¬â¢re nuts. Iââ¬â¢ve seen hundreds of men come by on the roads anââ¬â¢ on the ranches with their bindles on their backs anââ¬â¢ the same damn thing in their headsâ⬠(72). In that line, Steinbeck basically condenses all of his beliefs into one phrase. He states that the American Dream is just a dream, and that those who believe otherwise are deluding themselves. The American Dream began as a simple belief that those on the bottom of society had the potential to move up and become something better. In the book Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck shows that this is no longer the case. He represents this symbolically through Lennie and Georgeââ¬â¢s relationship and outcome. He also proves this with character of Curleyââ¬â¢s Wife, by showing that the American dream is hard to gain, even with opportunity, and especially if you donââ¬â¢t have support. Finally, he uses his background characters to make his point with small phrases that warn the characters and the readers of the dangers of the American Dream. By extinguishing Lennie, Georgeââ¬â¢s, and Curleyââ¬â¢s Wifeââ¬â¢s American Dream, as well as using the sentiment of the minor characters when these dreams are discussed, have shown that Steinbeck believes that the American Dream is no longer an achievable goal in American society.

Characterisation of Holden Caulfield in the Catcher Essays
Characterisation of Holden Caulfield in the Catcher Essays Characterisation of Holden Caulfield in the Catcher Paper Characterisation of Holden Caulfield in the Catcher Paper Slinger uses effective characterization to explore how Holder finds growing up painful and difficult. Holder is frightened of maturing because he has convinced himself that the adult world is corrupt, and that all the adults are phony, hypocritical and false. He has made this generalization to detach himself from adults, to resist entry to the society that they belong to. Holders actions contradict what he believes as he is a compulsive liar; l have this tiny tumor on the brain. Holder is not shy to lie to people around him. He lies to Mrs. Morrow the woman he meets on the rain after leaving school -because he does not like interacting with new people or opening up to them, in case they are phony. Holder cannot reach full maturity because he ignores advice of his elders, like Mrs. Morrow, as he does not want guidance in his Journey to adulthood he does not want to become what society wants him to become, so he remains a child. Holders own physique is telling him to change and to mature into adulthood despite what he believes, Im six-foot-etc:and- a-half and I have grey hair. His body appears to be maturing, but his mind lacks this placement and remains child-like. Slinger uses this contrast of his emotions with his physical appearance to imply that his body is telling him to grow up, but his mind is resisting, in order to stay innocent and pure for as long as possible. Slinger even uses his name to show his youthfulness , Holder Coalfield can be broken up Into Hold-on as if he is not ready to grow up, and that it is too difficult for him to handle. And Call is apart of the amnion, which protects the babys head during birth, this relates to Holder as he Is metaphorically protected by this and does not mature as a result.

To persuade People to refrain from taking Diet Pills Essay
To persuade People to refrain from taking Diet Pills - Essay Example It's very important to study this matter for it will make clear to us the real thing about diet pills. The problem is the rate of people who uses diet pills and those who sell such pills are getting higher. The result of this study will surely change our point of view regarding diet pills. The people will surely will benefit, all in the whole society. In the principle of Ecology there is a saying that everything is connected to everything else. So what's the relation of this As we take diet pills we tend to limit our choices and wants to eat. The pills limited the wants of your stomach. And you really have to maintain your diet. When you take diet pills you will not feel hungry every time. But we don't have notice that some part of the body, or one of the body organs are affected by that pills, such as the sensitive one, the liver which is the screener of all, will be affected. But why is this problem not have been solved, actually there are barriers like the legal barriers for they tend to explain that diet pills had come for solving the problem in the society. There are some good results from taking it. And the cant stop the production for it really helps the people's needs. There are also the attitudinal barriers in which the people keeps on consuming and buying diet pills, their attitude and the willing ness to buy the product tends the hardship to stop them becomes worse. There is also a political barrier in which some of the politicians in authority holds or protect those producers, for they will receive a payment from them. There is also an economical barrier, since the people's attitude cannot be stopped by time they continue buying the pills and so consuming these pills helps the economy, so the economic sectors are afraid to stop the production of diet pills for it helps the economic progression. Solving the problem from the start will be hard to do, but there are solutions to solve this. Education is the solution. Why not educate the people about the bad aspects of taking diet pills. We should make them believe that pills can give them another problem; the willingness to be thin is dangerous. Why not publish some ads on the newspaper, conduct seminars, and even teach those in schools.
